Roger Goodell has been Commissioner of the NFL since 2006, and the NFL Owners took a vote yesterday, (October 18, 2022) and ended with 31 votes to 1 to keep Mr. Goodell on the job, with Jerry Jones, Owner of the Dallas Cowboys, being the only ‘NO’ vote.
One unidentified owner told ESPN that the committee might consider a 2 or 3 year contract for Mr. Goodell.
It has been reported that Mr. Goodell has earned $128 million dollars over a 2 year period from 2020 to 2021.
ESPN reported in 2017 that Mr. Goodell expressed to some owners that he would walk away after his next contract saying, “I’m here for you through that,” Goodell said. “After that, you guys should start having a conversation.”
So, it seems that there will be no ‘real’ change on the field for any ‘bad rules’ until some time after the 2024-2025 season.
How much more can sports fans take… we shall see…
