In May of 2022 BetMGM announced an exclusive partnership with the Houston Astros.
Under the deal BetMGM has exclusive rights to display signage around Minute Maid Park, where the Houston Astros play, this includes a permanent wall sign in the outfield and other promotional messaging behind home plate.
BetMGM and the Astros are expected to team up and offer promotions to bettors in Louisiana, (potential revenue that should stay in Texas).
As per CEO Adam Greenblatt of BetMGM said:
The Houston Astros are a monumental addition to our portfolio of strategic partnerships with professional sports teams across the U.S.”
The organization’s passionate fan base will be key to the growth of BetMGM throughout the South as we look for new ways to engage fans with unique experiences that go beyond the game.
Mr. Greenblatt went on to say that this deal also includes ‘market access’ to more Texas Sports Betting and licensing agreements, should Texas legalize sports betting.
Texas is undoubtedly a huge market with 30 million residents and 11 major league sports teams.
Texas Politicians have said that if Texas were to legalize sports betting that it would have the potential to bring in billions of dollars, and of course, thousands of jobs.
Legalizing sports gambling legislation in Texas is anticipated to be taken up in 2023.
